Generally, first orientation of building bridge is the length and strength of the bridge’s construction. However, some bridges in some places are rising tall like skyscrapers. On the following list, we are going to visit 10 location of 10 tallest bridge in the world include with the measurement.

10. THE VERRAZANO-NARROWS BRIDGE (693 feet)

Verrazano Narrows Bridge


The Verrazano is spanning 4,260 feet or 1,29 km. The construction of the bridge was started in 1964 and completed in 1981. The bridge is known as the largest suspension bridge in the world ever made. The function is connecting Staten Island of New York and Brooklyn. The founder took famous Italian explorer’s name Giovanni da Verrazano to name the bridge.
9. LE PONT DE NORMANDIE (705 feet)
France owns the bridge and it functions as connector between Honfleur and Le Havre on the Siene River. The length is 2,143.21 metres totally. France required to pay $465 million to construct the bridge. In the world, the bridge is known as the 2nd longest cable-stayed bridge

8. PENANG BRIDGE (101.5meters)
Penang Bridge is tallest bridge in South East Asia. The tower is standing 101.5 meters high and the construction is rising 33 meters above the waterbed. The total length is 13.5 km and it links Mainland with Gelugor in Penang Island. Malaysia took 4 decades to build the bridge.

7. TATARA BRIDGE (722 feet)
Tatara Bridge is a connector between Honshu and Shikoku island of Japan and the bridge itself is rising above Seto Inland Sea. The center span is 890 meters and it has total length 1,480 meters. It operates since 1999 and has become integral part of Nishiseto expressway. Constructors need 6 years to complete the construction.

The bridge has longest span up to 1,624 km and it functions as a railway tunnel and connector between Danish Island of Zealand and Funen . The bridge is known as the 3rd world’s longest suspension bridge behind Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge and Xihoumen Bridge. Total construction cost of the bridge was 21,4 billion Danish Krone.

4. NEW RIVER GORGE BRIDGE (267 meters)
It is 3rd biggest arch bridge in the world and owns arch extension 518 meters high. The bridge is rising 267 meters beyond New River and linking CSX transportation railroad. It operates since 1977. In America, it is known as the 2nd tallest vehicular bridge.

3. Akashi Kaikyō Bridge (298.3 meters)
Akashi Bridge or locally known as Pearl bridge is a connector between city of Kobe of Honshu mainland and Iwaya on Awaji Island. It operates since 1998, crossing Akashi Street, and it is spanning 3,911 meters long

2. ROYAL GORGE BRIDGE (321 meters)
Royal Gorge Bridge is standing 321 meter beyond Arkansas River. It is recognized as the highest suspension bridge in US. It has longest span 384 meters and constructor constructed the bridge near Canon city. They only required 6 months to build the bridge from scratch

Millau Viaduct is the tallest bridge in the world and also the highest cable-stayed road bridge in Europe and the world. It operates since 2004 after former France president, Jacque Chirac, officially opened it. from the measurement, Millau Viaduct is bit taller than Eiffel Tower and little shorter compare to Empire state building
